Stinky Hippie

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mark @ 9:37 am

After over a decade of interlude, Dave and I got back in touch.

Not LinkedIn. I sent him some CDs of old music, mostly from Darryl’s back room. He sent me back a fine CD of his own music. Listen to the tunes from Stinky Hippie. But you will not get the fully berimbau effect until Dave comes out with his own, perhaps at Improv Factory. (Try Bigfoot sits.) First time I recall of berimbau splash was in a kitchen in New Buffalo, along about 1992 or 1993.

Today his equipment leaves a lot less to be desired. Dave has always had an ear for mixdowns, searching for just the right splash. Elegantly spaced sounds. Headphone music.

Thanks, Kathy.

Out of the dust

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mark @ 7:23 am

A couple of years’ worth of entries remain at the old blog site.

Mark ran to have himself absolved of the poor showing, 3:42 amidst debilitating cramps at the Grenoble marathon last Halloween. Ran into high blood pressure, then literal depression. In the morning, he woke up early. He looked in the direction of the wall that was not yet visible in the night.

The doctor gave him some plant medicine, medication to calm the heart. He stopped running for a while. Eventually he felt good enough to want to go on living.

So here we are. Let’s try this again. Out of the dust, a vehicle appears.
