Not music for running, part II
Tried listening to Live/Dead while running today. This is the one that starts with a drawn out jam on Dark Star. Geoff Arnold called it, "one of the three greatest live rock recordings in my collection."
The performance itself isn't bad, though somewhat uneven. But somehow it's not for running, or running's not right for this music. It's not something I can put my finger on exactly.
Maybe I should go the other direction entirely, try listening to Glenn Gould.

I would be surprised if "Live Dead" were any good for running. After all, the track "The Eleven" is in 11/8 time, which messes up everyone's intuitions about tempo.
How about Ten Years After "I'm Goin' Home"? ;-) No, the accelerando would be a killer.

Maybe the time signature is part of it, though the track about the seven brothers on Ten Summoner's Tales worked fine. And an accelerando might be good at the end of a race.
American Beauty went over better. It could be that you should sit down to listen to Live/Dead, not run around in circles.
