Going quiet

Should've found this one when I was making resolutions for the New Year. It's from the How To Wiki, a procedure for doing nothing.

I read the steps for doing nothing. The instructions sound a lot like my running when I was younger. When I compare my running then to the Wikihow steps I find for:

Step No. 1 - Yes, running was planned for and other thing cancelled or put on hold

Step No. 2 - Yes, people knew I was physically unavailable during that time

Step No. 3 - Yes, I ran in places where I felt unpressured to do anything (except run)

Step No. 4 - yes, running period was timed

Step No. 5 - Yes, very aware of physical surroundings and how I felt at the moment with no added human stimuli like music, entertainment, conversation, etc.

Step No. 5 - Well, I probably did not really clear my mind but I bet it was far more cleared than any other time of the day.

A good explanation of how running is close to meditation. Someone named Roger Joslin wrote a book you can buy cheap, "It is possible to begin a meditation run simply by stepping onto the pavement and putting one foot in front of the other..."
